Usually Spain is represented through the topics of the bullfights and jammed beaches, the medieval castles and the Muslim buildings. Nevertheless, the variety that can be found in this enormous country, green in north and dry in south, is enormous. The remains of different kingdoms that formed the Spanish nation throughout history are conserved in an evident form, in the diversity of languages, cultures and traditions.

A lot of things have changed after the 40 years of dictatorship (1936-1976) of general Franco. The economy has grown, the cultural and moral yoke has fallen and the life has changed radically. Year 1992 was an important date to the country. Barcelona hosted the Olympic Games, Seville was the seat of the Universal Exhibition and Madrid was declared Europe Cultural Capital. In this year Spain raised among the main European countries.

In the Spanish cities there always is a lot of movement: in the clubs, in the streets, in the fashion, even more, in the most remote towns there is a lot of nocturnal life, music and the diversion. One can not forget the traditional celebrations like the San Fermines in Pamplona or the Fallas in Valencia.

It is impossible to define Spain like a simple country. Catalonia is vibrant and avant-garde, Galicia is rural and fishing, the Basque Country fight for an outstanding place and Castilla and the south still represent the Spanish quintessence for the tourists. The three great cities, Barcelona, Madrid and Seville, the Muslim vestiges of the south and Christians vestiges of the center, the vanguard of the clubs and beaches of Balearic Islands are some of the most outstanding destinies. And if one wants to enjoy high-mountain landscapes, the Pyrenees and the Picos de Europa in Asturias will never disappoint the visitor.
